Last week, our colleagues in India took a trip to visit our palliative care partners at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.

After 2+ years of Covid restrictions, our team in India were able to travel to the state of Assam where the hospital provides underserved communities across the Northeast with comprehensive cancer and palliative care services.

Accompanied by our partners at Emmanuel Hospital Association, the visit was an opportunity to reconnect with the inspirational staff at CCH in person, allowing us to observe the professional, empathetic and critical care provided to patients, spearheded by Director, Dr Ravi Kannan.

The teams were also able to celebrate Holi together!

Since 2019, Savitri has supported the hospital’s satellite clinic programme. Based on an organised network of healthcare workers, doctors, and nurses stationed at the main hospital and smaller clinics across the state, CCH offers accessible services to their most critical patients via these healthcare hubs.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, palliative care remains an essential part of our work in supporting community health projects. CCH’s commitment to rural healthcare remains unwavered, as they continue to ensure 75% of patients are treated for free or at subsidised rates.
